Treating body and mind
Dr. Taryn has made a huge difference in the horses at our barn. Rachel was so tight and stiff she literally could not canter. After two treatments, she canters, bends and uses her back! Dr. Taryn also helped my older mare recover from the death of her long-time friend. Frieda was depressed and seemed like she wanted to give up. Immediately following treatment, she re-engaged with the others in the herd and the children who came out to see her. Amazing results!

Not just out of shape
Thank you so much for working on Curly the other day. He is doing great! He is able to keep his back up without me prompting him to repeatedly. I thought he was out of shape and just needed to build strength but... your adjustment is what he needed! Thank you and looking forward to our next session! - Tami Jennings
Camille is a new horse!
Three days after Dr. Rathbone treated Camille she had two huge [sole] abscesses pop out. She has been so sound since then that I took her off the Cosequin. She's such a complete rocket now with her new legs that I can't even put my daughter on her any more. I have to find a whole new purpose for her now as she is no longer a crippled old pasture puff. That is a true blessing!

Barrel Racing
Emma has been feeling fantastic after her work! This last weekend was the first time I ran her since her work and she ran a new personal best and the fastest time of the day!! Thank you again so much!

Pain-free Pup
Dr. Taryn has done a wonderful job treating my 6 year old french bulldog for his severe intervertebral disc issues. Before his treatment, he was limping and putting no pressure on his front left leg and didn't have any energy to do anything. After two treatments and herbs twice daily, he is back to his old mischievous self. He is walking normally..no limp and can be found following me around everywhere. In addition to her outstanding treatments, Dr. Taryn truly loves all her patients and does such a great job keeping Bull comfortable during his acupuncture! I tell everyone about Dr. Taryn. She has been a blessing!

Sylvester’s Story
I’ve been riding horses for nearly 30 years. I have formal training by the British Horse Society in horse care, training, riding and conditioning. I am not the best rider in the world, by any stretch, but my horses have always physically blossomed in my care, until my current horse - a Thoroughbred off the track named Sylvester. He has always seemed to move like two different horses – a powerful one in front, and a clumsy, weak one behind. Despite chiropractic, injections, ulcer treatments, all the gymnastic work I know how to do with a horse, physiotherapy and all my “tricks”, he just hasn’t blossomed like he should have. I was starting to despair that he would ever be rideable, much less the awesomely athletic and happy Dressage horse that I could see hiding underneath all the physical and emotional issues.
Enter Dr. Taryn Rathbone. I was thrilled to meet Dr. Rathbone and have her start working with Sylvester. I have used acupuncture with good effect on other horses, so I knew that it would help, I just wasn’t prepared for how powerful it could really be. In the 5 years I’ve had Sylvester, I have known he was prone to ulcers, and that he was in some sort of pain. But, I always thought the pain was more related to his hocks, formerly injured stifle, and whatever neck spasms he gives himself cribbing. But, as Dr. Rathbone started working on him – once a week at first, and then every couple of weeks and then about once a month, her diagnostics kept pointing to GI tract… even after a full month of ulcer treatment. So we put him on some Chinese herbs. That seemed to really tip the scales for him.
Suddenly he is less of a “hot TB”, and more of a normal horse. What I always thought of as just his highly emotional, “high adrenaline” personality has mellowed out into a more normal Thoroughbred personality – alert and sensitive without being so anxious and tense. His body is starting to show amazing changes. He is starting to move like a single horse, and he is just starting to develop carrying power in his hindquarters, where all he could do before was push. And, with the changes in the way he is moving and using his body, his GI points are no longer the predominant triggers that Dr. Rathbone sees when she works on him.
I could not be more thrilled to see the massive changes that just a couple of months of acupuncture and a couple of weeks on Chinese herbs has wrought in my horse. He has been, by far, my most challenging horse to work with, and I am confident in saying that I never would have had the keys to “fix” him without Dr. Rathbone’s partnership. Seeing a horse like this go from anxious, in pain, and disconnected to a beautiful and confident athlete is just about the most rewarding experience I can imagine having.
